Unlike email reminders, SMS reminders are not sent by default from your Gas Engineer Software subscription as they require additional SMS credits.

How to turn on SMS reminders

  1. Head to the "SMS Reminder Settings" page.

  2. Enter the phone number you would like your SMS reminders to be sent from. This also allows customers to respond directly to the SMS.

    1. Please enter your country code (+44)

  3. Click the 'SMS Reminder Setup' button. This notifies us of your request, and we'll begin setting up your account as soon as possible (typically within 1 one business day).

  4. You will then receive a message from our support team confirming that your account has been set up with SMS reminders.

Customising your SMS reminders

  1. Click the "Edit Gas SMS" or the "Edit Oil SMS" button:

  2. When your SMS reminders have been activated by our team, the "Schedule SMS to be Sent Automatically" option will change to "Yes".

  3. Modify the subject line and body to whatever you would like. Remember to keep it brief, as longer SMS messages can be 'split' into two messages, charging you more than one credit. (For more information, speak to our support team).

    1. Use the drag and drop tags on the right to fill out dynamic words, such as your customers name.

  4. Click "Save".

Topping up your SMS credits

Since you need credits to send SMS reminders, you may need to top up from time to time. Here's how:

  1. On your "SMS Reminder Settings" page, you can see how many available credits you have underneath the grey "Edit Gas SMS" button.

  2. If you need to top up, click the green "Buy Now" button to add 100 SMS credits for £10 (exc. VAT).

  3. If SMS reminders are activated and you have sufficient credits, they will start to be sent automatically. You can see your SMS history on this page.
