Updating a user's info on the web portal

  1. Go to the User Settings under your name.

  2. Click on the user you wish to make changes for, and this window will appear:

  3. From here, you can change their email address, password, name, registration numbers, rights and even their signature.

The signature can either be drawn or uploaded.

    Once done, click "Save".

Updating a user's details via the app:

On the app, you can only change the settings of the logged-in account. Here's how:

  1. Log in to the app

  2. On the Home page, tap on 'Settings'.

  3. Here you can edit engineer details as well as some of the company settings (if you are the company admin)

Updating access rights or permissions

If you would like to restrict a specific user's access rights, there are several options for this. Following the same instructions as above, you have a few options:

  • Invoice:
With this option enabled, the user can create estimates, quotes and invoices.
    Un-tick this to disable.

  • Calendar:
With this option enabled, the user can see all calendar events for all engineers.
    Un-tick this to disable.

  • Restricted (mainly used for engineers):
With this option enabled, the user can only log into the app (no web portal), change their own details, use the gas rate calculator, and see their own calendar events.
Restricted users need their events created and assigned to them by an admin/office user.

We recommend following the principle of least privilege, which means an employee is given access to what’s required for their duties, but no more. This helps with:

  • Security: By giving only key employees access to sensitive information, your data is kept much safer. Both malicious and accidental security breaches or data leaks are possible.

  • Efficiency: With fewer options and access rights, Gas Engineer Software is a simpler and easier software to operate. This can help new staff quickly get up to speed.

  • Accuracy: Accounts and customer data need to be kept accurate. Having a few key employees handling these aspects of your business ensures the work is done by professionals and not wrongly or accidentally entered, modified, or deleted.
