Introduction

Gas Engineer Software has both an app and a web portal. Changes you make on either will reflect on the other every time a sync occurs.

Generally speaking, the app is designed to be used by engineers in the field. It's more convenient, can pull readings directly from your flue gas analyser, and even works offline. Meanwhile, the web portal is perfect for admin staff who need to manage schedules, keep track of invoices, etc.

As a sole trader, you sit somewhere in the middle. Most of your time will probably be spent in the field, but you will find value in the web portal for keeping track of your business and making certain customisations to your account.

Using the app

  1. The homescreen: This is where you navigate to everything on the app:

From this screen, the main things you can do include:

You can also access the in-app gas rate calculator, see your existing records and drafts, and change most of your settings.

Using the web portal

While most of your work will be done on the app, the web portal offers a few useful features for sole traders.

  1. The dashboard: Useful for getting an oversight of your business. From here, you can see how many invoices have been paid, how many open jobs you have, ad more.

  2. Email templates and reminder settings: In Gas Engineer Software, you have complete control over your reminders and email content. If you want to make it sound more like your own tone of voice, add a review link in, or set the time reminders are sent, this needs to be done from your Service Reminders and Email Templates settings.

  3. Reports: On the web portal, you can generate gas and oil service due date reports.

  4. Easier insight into invoice statuses. While this can be done from the app, it's far easier to keep track of invoices on a larger screen.
